Submental fullness is the medical term for the condition commonly known as the double chin. This condition may produce an unsightly appearance of the lower portion of the face. What is Kybella?

The Kybella is a synthesized form of Deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a substance that naturally occurs inside the body and exerts its effect by metabolizing fat.

What Kybella does is that it dissolves the cell membranes or walls of the adipose or fat cells. The fat is then released into the surrounding tissues. This released fat is absorbed and metabolized by the body. Kybella is the only known injectable treatment approved by the FDA for contouring submental fullness. Kybella is indicated for treatment of moderate to severe bulges of the double chin.

How much do Kybella injections cost?

Each Kybella treatment costs $500-1500. Treatments are personalized. The number of treatments are tailored to the submental fat severity and your aesthetic goals. The treatment process is very simple. It can be done in an outpatient setting at Palm Beach Aesthestics Group. Kybella is injected into the fat in the submental area.  This treatment usually takes only 15 to 20 minutes to complete. It may take 2 to 4 treatments to get the desired results.

How long in the recovery after Kybella injections?

The whole procedure, recovery period and outcomes are discussed and explained to our patients receiving Kybella treatment. Some patients may have swelling, redness, bruising or numbness over the injection sites after the injections. This may last for a few days to a few weeks. These effects occur more commonly in the first Kybella treatment as more volume is injected initially into the submental fat. You can immediately return to regular activities the next day after treatment. In fact, the standard of treatment  is to have Kybella injections done on a Thursday or Friday, spend the weekend recovering at home and then return to work at the start of the week.
